This summer was full of football, fun and friendships at City Football Language School. Discover a selection of the best of 2016’s #CFLSmoments below…
At the beginning of the summer CFLS players were invited to Cityzens Weekend, a large event arranged by Manchester City Football Club to launch the club’s new badge. The exciting 2-day event brought together City fans from across the world to celebrate the new era of Manchester City.
Throughout the weekend our players participated in skills activities, watched Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola’s present the new badge, and took photos of Manchester City Women & England Captain Steph Houghton, and Midfielder Isobel Christiansen. They were also selected to be interviewed by CityTV about their experience on this year’s programme!
manchester city women vs. sunderland
At the end of July the CFLS girls watched Manchester City Women play against Sunderland at the Academy Stadium. Not only did they see the Women’s Team win, they also got exclusive access to the stadium tunnel after the match, where they spoke to the team and had their shirts signed.
It was the second time the girls met the Women’s Team, after seeing them in training a few days beforehand. What a week for the girls!
meeting karen bardsley
Our lucky young Italian goalkeeper on the girls programme had an unforgettable moment after the Manchester City Women vs. Sunderland match, when professional goalkeeper Karen Bardsley gave her a pair of signed gloves!
etihad stadium tour
With the Etihad Stadium only a short walk from City Football Academy, our players got the opportunity to go on a stadium tour to see what happens behind the scenes of a premier league football match.
We were delighted to welcome back these two from Russia and Mexico, who met on the first ever City Football Language School programme in 2015 and have remained friends ever since.
developing skills and techniques
The players received an excellent level of football training from high-quality coaches who are trained in Manchester City’s philosophy and methodology.
Here are players after their final match on the indoor pitch. The large 3G indoor pitch is one of the CFA facilities that is also used by the First Team and Women’s Team in their own training sessions.
q&A session with steph houghton
On their last day, the girls were invited to the Performance Centre for a very special Q&A session with Manchester City Women & England Captain, Steph Houghton.
After the session Steph Houghton signed their footballs as a souvenir!
On their last day, the players presented their teammates with final group presentations, followed by a special awards and certificate ceremony in the Media Centre.
At the end of every programme, the players received a certificate in a special closing ceremony.
What a huge achievement after 2 weeks of intensive training and language development!
