Why did you decide to come to the City Football Language School, and what were your expectations before travelling to Manchester?
First, I wanted to experience a completely immersive language and sports programme. My goal was to strengthen my English language skills and become more fluent, with the possibility of being in an atmosphere where English was the primary means of communication with my friends. Equally, I wanted the opportunity to learn and experience the football strategies of a team in the English league.
What aspects of your game do you think improved the most while you were in Manchester, and what new things did you learn about football?
I had the opportunity to develop both my physical and athletic strength, and above all my strategic approach. The most important thing I learnt during this experience was the competitive edge between different playing styles, as there were athletes from different countries on the course, which meant that there was the opportunity to compete with and learn from everyone.
Why do you think learning English is important in the world of football, either as a player or in other areas?
English is the universal language of communication. Any footballer who is in a different league or country will have a better chance of communication if they speak both their native language and English.
Has your experience changed how you think about football and what you think about Manchester City?
I learnt to be more mature, independent and responsible in my training. I was very impressed with the organisation of the course at Manchester City, and without a doubt, one of the most unforgettable experiences was visiting the Etihad Stadium. Manchester City is a club that is currently leading the Premier League and has an excellent performance in the Champions League, so I feel very proud to be part of this family.
What did your friends and family think about you being able to play and learn English at Manchester City?
My family, friends and school have all experienced this course through me! Manchester City has definitely been an essential part of my academic and football training.
Who is your favourite City player and why?
Kun Agüero is a pure striker and a true goal-scorer. He is definitely one of the best forwards of the Premier League and an essential player for the Argentinean national team.
What are your most enjoyable memories from your time at the City Football Academy, and would you recommend the course to others?
Without a doubt, having lived, trained and competed with football players from other countries, religions and football backgrounds was the thing that I enjoyed the most, and will remain forever in my memory. I would strongly encourage students who have the possibility to go on this course to do so, since it will be one of the best experiences of their lives.
